    The metals that have led to nickel allergy have been nickel alloys or thin plating over nickel alloys. Contact sensitivity to gold, presenting as a lymphocytoma,17 can occur in the earlobes and other areas pierced with gold jewelry. The Amsterdam Group9 has recommended guidelines for the stringent hygiene of the studio for piercing, has forbidden the use of injectable anesthetics, and has stated that analgesic creams must be individually prescribed by the client's physician.
